July 4th Weekend

Wow, has it been that long since I've blogged?! Well, this weekend was very busy, but a lot of fun. We started out on Friday mornning and headed to the Morton Aboretum. It was a gorgeous day out and the kids had a great time there. Right now is the Big Bug exhibit. If you get a chance, check it out, it is really cool. The Bugs are made out of wood and they are beautiful. Emma and Joshua were a little bored after seeing a couple bugs, but Mark and I thoroughly enjoyed the beauty of it all. Friday night we went over to my parents house, that was wonderful. It's always a joy to spend time with family and to have Emma and Joshua spend time with their cousins. We were able to see fireworks from EVERY direction. It was pretty amazing. We kept telling Emma, "Look over there." After a bit, she was tired of looking at them and just wanted to go home. Even on the way home you were able to see a ton of fireworks.

Saturday we went to the Lisle fest, which was fun. Emma enjoyed the rollar coaster ride. She was willing to ride on the train with Joshua, which I know she would of preferred to spend her tickets on something else, but was sweet enough to go with Joshua. Mark convinced her to go on a ride that I HATE...the pirate boat ride. I don't even know if it was a pirate ship ride, but it was some sort of boat ride. I knew she would not like it, but she went anyway. She spent the entire ride with her face in Mark's lap. We went to the festival to see the Hot air balloons, but unfortunately, the little wind that we had would of placed the balloons in the path of O'Hare airport, so not all of the balloons launched. The only ones that launched were ugly balloons and the kids really had no interest in them. One of the balloons was a "Curve" balloon and that one was quite smaller than the others, do you think that is some marketing idea?!

Sunday afternoon we filled up the pool at the house and Joshua and Mark played. Emma didn't go in. She has this thing about leaves and grass in the water. She sat out with me and watched them laugh and play. Last night was Calvary's picnic, which I failed to bring the camera for. It was fun and HOT as usual. The kids (Emma, Joshua, Kylia and Julia) rode on the train a couple of times. We went down the inflatable ship slide, which I got to burns from. They went to the petting zoo and they enjoyed running around. For some reason Emma had this obsession with this dog. It was a man dressed up in a dog outfit, advertising for the Flames Soccer team. If she saw him, she would take off running towards him. I don't know what she would say to him, but she loved him. We ended up leaving before the fireworks started. Joshua couldn't stay up that late, he was TIRED. Mark and Emma went back to see the fireworks. I went outside the house and watched them from the driveway :) Anyway, that was our fun filled weekend and boy am I tired, as are the kids. Joshua is taking a nap and Emma is still sleeping and it's 9 a.m.

Beware, there are a lot of pictures and they are all messed up. Sorry.
